5 stars! I read the book, not audiobook though

Easily 5 stars, simply because when I closed this book, I feel inspired, excited and hopeful. I have struggled with my mental health for most of my life - starting with OCD/anxiety in childhood that led to severe generalized anxiety, severe depression (after I lost my grandfather), and C-PTSD. I have been trying to seek help in different ways for years. Unfortunately, I can’t afford some of the mental health avenues that I would like to go down such as Better Help ($490 a month) or some sort of retreat. All of the therapists my insurance covers have LONG wait lists (I’m talking 2+ years) or else they were one of the four different therapists over the years, and I gave each of them 7 sessions. However - it always just felt like I was divulging my secrets without being given ANY tools for it, so it was a waste of time/money. I saw another review that had said that contrary to the title, someone had in fact told them everything in it. I am glad that they were gifted this kind of knowledge before, but I have only ever heard some snippets here and there. Something that made me feel good was when I read something that I have already intuitively been doing.
I don’t know what specifically makes me love this book, minus the advice put in there that I believe could really help a lot of people in my life and around the world, too. I think it’s because it’s all written in an easy format to understand, and the tools/exercises don’t seem too daunting. It really is helping nudge me forward, when I personally have felt pretty stuck lately. I can’t wait to continue to do the exercises provided, and to start these new neural pathways and basically be able to handle/deal with stress and other areas in my life that I want to work on.

Required reading

This book is well written. I loved how it’s organized. This book is truly a gem. I believe it should be required reading for anyone. Seriously, I thought that I knew things about psychology but I still learned so so much. I wish I had read this book many years ago!! Honestly, one of the best psychology books I’ve ever read.
