The storyline itself is good, but unfortunately I did not finish the audiobook because I found the Apple digital voice mostly intolerable. The non-human narration does a poor job of conveying the characters’ different emotions and often misses the subtle changes in inflection that the human ear and brain naturally recognize. While these differences may seem minor, they made the story difficult for me to listen to. Because of this, I stopped after the first two chapters. I like the storyline enough that I plan to get the book and read it instead, but I will not purchase another audiobook that uses an AI- or computer-generated voice.
