Publisher Description
Between April and July 1944, Truman Smith flew 35 bombing missions over France and Germany. He was only 20 years old. Although barely adults, Smith and his peers worried about cramming a lifetime's worth of experience into every free night, each knowing he probably would not survive the next bombing mission. Written with blunt honesty, wry humor, and insight, The Wrong Stuff is Smith's gripping memoir of that time. In a new preface, the author comments with equal honesty and humor on the impact this book has had on his life.

Eye Rolling Narration
I was anxious to hear this story (I am unable to read text) and settled in for a good audio book WWII tale. After three minutes I found my eyes rolling slowly back in their sockets the way they used to when my uncle Bob would read a financial report to his boating club’s members trying to make it exciting. Bob was a sing-song mono voiced presenter, not an actor. That’s what we have here. I found myself looking out the window. Our narrator’s voice offers strange pauses and gratuitous catch-up excitement at the end of sentences, all out of synch with the emotional content of the author’s written words.
It was, to me, more of a punishment than a performance.
Sadly, I will not be able to enjoy this apparently fascinating yarn and have removed it from my device’s library after only 12 minutes of listening.
