The story of “Invading Chang’an” is selected from the Chinese classical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. It tells a story that happened at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, when Wang Yun, Minister of the Interior, killed Dong Zhuo the autocrat, by plotting a plan of double snare. But Wang Yun, self-conceited and opinionated, refused to pardon Dong Zhuo’s generals, and hence Li Jue and Guo Si led their troops to invade the capital Chang’an, ravaging the economy of the capital and its surrounding areas. Cao Cao, uprising from Shandong, beat Li and Guo, and moved the capital of Han to Luoyang in the name of Emperor Xian. From then on, the power of the Eastern Han Dynasty fell in Cao Cao’s hand.
