1. Under Minnesota Statutes section 548.36, subdivision 5 (1996), evidence of collateral source payments received by the plaintiff may not be presented to the jury. However, a defendant may, with the permission of the trial court, rebut a plaintiff's false claim of financial destitution by presenting evidence of collateral source payments received by the plaintiff.
