1 Corinthians

A Boiled Down Bible Commentary

Publisher Description

We are improving on Eugene Peterson’s “The Message”. Peterson’s methodology and quirky language choice bring his work down. This present text is different as it grounds all interpretive choices in one well known and respected scholarly commentary on the Bible, and uses simple, casual unambiguous English throughout.

For 1 Corinthians, all the interpretive conclusions of Rosner and Ciampa's excellent PNTC commentary* has been extracted and used to colour a standard translation with extra nuance and precision in as few words as possible, so that it sounds like a normal Bible translation (but a little longer).

The paragraph and section headings contribute greatly to the clarity of the text, making the argument and logic of the whole book very clear and simple.

The tone has received significant attention aswell, seeking to be both intelligent and casual... like a wise old friend. Wherever possible everyday terminology has replaced technical language and jargon
