Awesome Book!
I've been working in Photoshop for many years, and still learned something from this book. It the perfect amount of information and engagement to keep me interested. Oh, did I mention it is full of beautiful and stunning photos? I highly recommend it.
Annoyingly chatty, but useful.
For a raw beginner this book does prove useful in focusing you on a handful of essential skills. It even guides you right to the correct controls with some nice examples.
That said, this book is raw -- it needs the hand of a good editor to take out the noise (irrelevant chattiness and some side comments that are just plain wrong). It is sort of ironic in that the author is advocating the beneficial editing of photos and somehow has neglected to get someone to provide some beneficial editing to his text.
Nice draft; a good start. But, not worth $9.99 in this edition at least.
