Publisher Description
Prepared as a modest gift to our cultural and artistic life in the 100th year of our Republic, this volume of the 5-book series “100 Works of 100 Years,” titled 100 Literary Works of 100 Years, draws a panorama of the century through literary works.
The book, which focuses on the works of important figures of Turkish literature, includes the most refined examples of our literature. In this work, where the authors in the selection are each represented by only one work, the life stories of 100 authors are conveyed in terms of their significance in our literary world. In addition, a short excerpt from each work is presented along with the comments of famous critics.
Necip Fazıl, known as the “Poet of Sidewalks,” the author of ÇİLE, a work that comprises all his poems, sifted, selected, corrected, and compiled by the poet himself starting from his first poem published in Yeni Mecmua in 1922; Nazım Hikmet, who said, “Neither good nor bad, neither beautiful nor ugly, neither right nor wrong, an immense, boundless life”; Peyami Safa, the master of detective novels; Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, who guided people of his time with The Time Regulation Institute; Yaşar Kemal, the author of İnce Memed, who was nominated many times for the Nobel Prize in Literature; and Cahit Zarifoğlu, the “beautiful man,” are included in the selection of 100 books with their works.
