Publisher Description

The 20 Second Rule: Single out an individual in your organization and give them 20 seconds of your time. That's it. That's the rule. A mere 20 seconds. . . In that 20 seconds your job is to praise, to acknowledge, to enable, and to motivate. Seems like a tall order for such a short amount of time, doesn't it? How do you do all that in just 20 seconds? The first step is simple: single out an individual.

20 Seconds is all about communication, specifically the brief, daily interactions we have with employees and associates. It's a simple yet powerful managerial tool.

20 seconds is all it takes to make a difference in somebody's life. It's a small investment all leaders can make to show their people how valuable they are.

Important principles served in a neat package

This book is a short read and a must for any leader. I found so many little moments where the book pointed out something that was so simple for me to improve on that I would pause and sheepishly tell myself 'Duh!'. The simplicity of the 20 Second Rule while enforcing the importance of it puts you into a corner that forces you to try and exercise the actions it describes. What is refreshing is the genuine connection the 'Rule' makes between the leader and their associates. I appreciated this book and look forward to exposing others to it.

Great book about positive reinforcement and how the simplest effort can produce huge results. So often bad behavior is not only recognized but rewarded by inaction causing morale issues with other employees. The 20 second rule not only inspires an employee to continue great work but can cause a pay-it-forward effect. The authors provide a clear, effective method for motivating employees. The rule should be incorporated in every day life as well as the workplace.
