Publisher Description

Since 2002 the Roberts Environmental Center, an environmental research institute at Claremont McKenna College, has been analyzing the environmental and social reporting of companies on the Fortune Global 500 and Fortune 1000 lists. These lists comprise the 500 largest firms in the world and the 1000 largest firms in the United States, respectively, based on total annual revenues. In 2003 we decided to group the analyses by industrial sector, as specified in the Fortune lists, and between 2003 and 2005 we produced sector reports for 10 sectors or combinations of sectors: chemicals, electronics, energy (combined with utilities), consumer food (combined with food production and beverages), forest and paper products, pharmaceuticals, motor vehicles and parts, and petroleum refining. This report analyzes, for the first time, all of our data for the 2003-2005 time period across all sectors and provides all of the individual sector reports in a single volume as appendices.
