David Pepper is a writer, democracy activist, former elected official, adjunct professor and lawyer, and former chair of the Ohio Democratic Party. He also currently serves as a senior fellow at the Kettering Foundation.

Pepper is the author of two recent non-fiction books—Laboratories of Autocracy and Saving Democracy—which outline the threats to American democracy and how everyday Americans can play active roles in protecting democracy. Pepper has also written five novels.
