Joe Fleck's life consists of monotony, of lost opportunities, lost bets and lost love. With the notoriously dangerous loan-sharks of Reading, the town where he grew up, breathing down his neck, Joe decides to flee the country for the paradaisical lands of Southeast Asia where the sun shines and where beautiful women, good times and cheap alcohol come in abundance.

When Joe invests his 'borrowed' funds in a bar located on a Thai beachfront, he finds that as the local mafias close in to offer their protection services, paradise comes at a high price, and that murder, kidnapping and hard drugs aren't just the stuff of action movies. They're what Joe must adapt to if he wants to stay alive.
