Publisher Description

747 is the thrilling story behind "the Queen of the Skies"—the Boeing 747—as told by Joe Sutter, one of the most celebrated engineers of the twentieth century, who spearheaded its design and construction. Sutter's vivid narrative takes us back to a time when American technology was cutting-edge and jet travel was still glamorous and new. With wit and warmth, he gives an insider's sense of the larger than life-size personalities—and the tensions—in the aeronautical world.

Just as incredible as the 747!

This is one of the best books I have ever read. 'Nuff said.

A great account of aviation history

Excellent book. It has great pace and just enough detail to appeal to both aviation professionals, as well as the general public. The story is a powerful one, and Mr Sutter tells it from the captain's seat!

Great read for anyone who loves aviation

While the book is a great story of the pioneering engineer from Boeing who was the lead behind the 747 program, the read felt a little disjointed at times. However, for anyone who loves aviation or is a frequent flier the book is worth the read.
