Things are definitely not normal when Denver lawyer Adam Larsen and his legal assistant, former Denver Broncos inside linebacker Maurice White, stroll into one of their regular lunch spots. The usually cheerful owner, Harrier O'Reilly is obviously in deep distress. Harriet's son vanished when he was eleven years old, and no trace of him has ever been found. One of his childhood friends has recently discovered a tape recording of her son, which has dredged up her old feelings of pain and loss. Separately, Maurice's girlfriend is involved in a high-stakes real estate battle with her greedy relatives that is seriously straining their relationship and threatening their future together. Within days, Harriet is brutally bludgeoned to death. Aided by his slightly-more-than-girlfriend, Jana Deacon, Larsen is determined to uncover the truth about Harriet's death and her son's mysterious disappearance--and the connection to a botched jewelry store heist.
