Disappointing Local Portrayal
I bought this book because I enjoy Paretsky and it’s based in my home area. Very disappointed with the portrayal of Lawrence and Douglas County KS. Characters come off ‘simple and folksy.’ Lawrence is a vibrant university town with diversity and interesting local culture. You did your roots a disservice, Ms. Paretsky! I write this only 10% in, we’ll see if I pick it back up.
