A tale of the twilight of the Roman Empire.
Aed promised to return for Muirne, her father, uncle and his kin couldn’t stop him. Muirne might. She found him with her cousin, a circumstance brought about by her father and uncle. He hoped she gave him a chance to beg before using her sgian on him. If she refused him… Aed would never allow that to happen. She had to listen, to forgive him.
Muirne waited for him to come. Aed said to look for him in spring, Eire is greening, where is he? Winter didn’t cure her anger, she planned to make Aed crawl, then leave with him. The brothers, her father and uncle, had other plans for her and for Grainne, her cousin. She didn‘t care what they did to Grainne, the lot of them might vanish for all she cared.
Aed needs an army and has none. He has a friend, the son of his headman in the new land where he works to build a life for himself and Muirne. Ualan agreed to go with him to steal Muirne away. The two young men, a bard and son of a headman must take a small skin boat to Eire. find Muirne and get away with their hides intact. No small feat with Muirne’s kin and Aed’s on guard against them.
