One of George MacDonald's best-known works is a volume of poetry he wrote in the days following the loss of two of his adult children to death. MacDonald writes a seven stanza poem each day that reflects upon God, himself, and the world. He struggles in conversation with God - sometimes feeling despair, but always returning to hope and trust. This edition includes numerous footnotes which cite Scriptural references, external literary references (e. g. Shakespeare, Milton), and provide explanatory notes.

Beautiful heart, thoughts and prayers- a heart so focused and hopeful of his loving Father. An insight heartbreakingly tender, and yet ever set on his maker, trusting Him to help where human strength grows weary, and to bring all his children to life, their true selves, and their eternal home.
Century Old Gift of Golden Wisdom
Surprised to find this little gem in iTunes for FREE. Not sure who to thank, but thank you! Jim Munchbach in Houston Texas is loving the blank pages on the left side of this old book, using iPad to create daily notes of reflection triggered by George MacDonald in 1880! Love this.
