Ben is a divorced city employee who now lives alone. Cori, his neighbor and sister’s best friend, lives across the street. Cori has been in love with Ben since they were young. However, after high school they both went their separate ways and married other people. They are now both single and have eyes only for each other. When some women are murdered in their small town, Ben is questioned and it’s obvious he has a connection with the women. Then Cori’s son gets involved with drug dealers. Can the two find a way out of their mess and back to each other?
This is a decent whodunit with some steam. It’s about people trudging through the mess we call life while leaning on each other. I was a bit disappointed that I had the murderer figured out early on. I admire Cori as a strong single mom doing what has to be done to care for her boys but I love her son Eli’s character. I love that he shows remorse for his actions and faces up to the consequences.
