Publisher Description
A cruel and bitter old miser is visited by three spirits on Christmas Eve to help him reflect on his past, present, and future in one of the most widely read and frequently adapted holiday classics.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
This reissued recording of Stewart's touted Broadway performance might prove to be the enduring interpretation of Dickens's beloved tale of the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge and the ghosts of past, present, and future who catalyze his transformation. In a production stripped of sound effects, Stewart's theatrical talents take center stage. Reading with a voice that it is at once commanding and fragile, he creates a Scrooge of unexpected complexity and pathos. A spare and dazzling listen that might be the best rendition of the classic since the 1951 Alistair Sim production.
Customer Reviews
Four stars
I give this book a 4 star review because it gives a lesson that you shouldn’t be a Scrooge and be greedy because it could lead to BIG consequences throughout life.
A Classic Charles Dickens
A Christmas Carol is one of the most acclaimed and well known works of the social commentator Charles Dickens. His criticism of the social norms of the Victorian era is well thought out and integrated with the air of munificence associated with Christmas time. It is one of the easier reads of Charles Dickens. It is a classic story that almost anyone can pick up and enjoy.
Meaningful
It's a very good and touching story.
It is now one of my favorites!
