This was a month long project to increase the writing skills of my special education students. The students had to have a problem the main character would try to solve in multiple ways and finally solve in the end! Once they created the characters and problems/solutions, they began to write the story. The next steps involved peer editing and teacher editing and finally adding pictures that would match the text. The students then increased reading fluency skills by practicing reading their stories to each other before going to read them to the pre-school students in our district. After they read them to the students, they came back to school and recorded them!
We hope you enjoy the book. The student text was kept in it's organic form to preserve the authenticity of the student writing.
