Publisher Description
The story of my life, growing up in New Zealand from an early age, coming from a poor family,
attending primary and high school, I think I was a normal inquisitive child, wanting to explore
all things new to me. Joining the work force on the railways, and moving around the Country on
different work environments, which included, Railway Porter, a welder in car factories, Farm work,
working as a logger in the Kiangaroa Forests, a knife hand in a Freezing works Slaughter House. Milk
truck driver, Quarry work. Log truck Driver. Tunnel Miner.
Then going to Australia on the 11th of May 1960-with a good mate—for six weeks working
holiday,—living and working in Sydney for nine months, and having a great time, then making a move
to the famous Snowy Mountains Scheme, which was at the time one of the biggest Construction
Projects in the world, and working on many construction jobs as truck drivers and operating heavy
Earthmoving machines on road works, large dam projects, and tunnel work. Getting involved in a
supervisory capacity on lots of large construction projects. Working in Hong Kong for 6 years, on
the new Hong Kong International Airport. A gas plant in Vietnam and a lot of years in Indonesia in
Coal and Gold mining.—Involved with Motorcycles, Cars, Hunting and fishing. Traveling to South
America in 1994 for a month, and again in 2000 for two months, taking in Brazil, Paraguay, and
west Argentina, Peru, Buenos Arias Argentina. Several trips to Vietnam before I worked there. Some
places in China, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou. A lot of topics spoken of in previous chapters
are not necessary my beliefs, but are worthwhile topics and food for thought.
50 years later my mate and I are still in Australia [ a long six weeks ], we only live about 5 kms from each
other’s house, We became naturalized Australians, I think we have achieved a lot in our life time—
Helped to rear good children, made a lot of solid friendships, have great memories, and learned a
wealth of experience, and live in one of the greatest countries in the world.
Not a bad effort for—A FACE IN A CROWD.-
