A Grievous Burden

Jim and Janet are overjoyed with their adopted baby, but are dismayed when, at eighteen, Jenny leaves home to live with Steve, a store security guard. Difficulties follow Jenny. Her father is killed on a trip to Las Vegas. Jenny, determined to marry Steve, gets pregnant. Steve has other ideas and leaves to live with another girl. When Steve loses his job, he returns to Jenny. She pretends to commit suicide when he again refuses to marry her, is taken to hospital and has a miscarriage.

The story follows Jenny's troubles, when after therapy sessions, they discover her problems are a result of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Time and her mother's love bring her life back into focus.
