PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Christmas comes to Highland, Ga., in the fun and flirty third installment to Trentham's rom-com series (after A Highlander in a Pickup). Claire Smythe came to Highland from Scotland when her band, the Scunners, was hired to play a local festival, and is reluctant to return to the responsibility awaiting her in Scotland: on her 25th birthday, the day after Christmas, she'll inherit shares of Glennallen Whisky, her family's empire. She dreads being forced to participate in corporate politics, and decides to hide out in Highland, taking a job as a live-in caregiver for Ms. Meadows, an elderly widow. Though Ms. Meadows warns Claire away from their handsome neighbor, rancher Holt Pierson, Claire can't deny her attraction to Holt, who has never been anything but kind toward Claire. But when their mutual attraction sizzles into a steamy physical relationship, Claire is reluctant to get too emotionally attached, knowing eventually she'll have to leave and face her family's expectations. Claire's transformation from a world-weary drifter with trust issues into a caring, confident woman is magnetic. This adorable romance makes for perfect holiday reading.

Welcome to Highland,GA
This is the third book in the Highland, GA, series, but can be read as a stand-alone. The Highlander in this book is Claire Smythe, formerly a singer with the Scunners. She originally came to Highland, GA, to sing at the Highland Games (an annual festival). Holt Pierson is a handsome local boy who is taking care of the family farm because his parents have gone to Florida. Both seem destined to spend Christmas alone. Claire is taking care of Mrs. Meadows, an older resident of Highland. Holt meets her when he comes to Mrs. Meadows to resolve a feud with his family. They spend time together and come to like each other, but Claire resists developing a deeper relationship because she plans to go back to Scotland. Can Holt convince her to stay?
This is a lighthearted fun story that you feel a part of. Highland is a small town full of delightfully engaging characters, the kind of people you want to get to know. Claire has some secrets and at first is standoffish and shy. When she becomes comfortable with Holt and Mrs. Meadows, that begins to change. Holt seems tough, stern, but he is a good, kind person who takes care of the people in his life. There is chemistry between these two, and they are good for each other. This entertaining story reads like “a day in the life…” with a hitch or two. There is a dispute to resolve, and there are some secrets and surprises. Some unexpected visitors make it to town for Christmas, and Anna Maitland has a special announcement. A Highlander is Coming to town is a lovely way to end the series and a treat that says “Welcome back to Highland, GA, and Merry Christmas!”
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.
Laura Trentham is a one click author
I received this ARC for an honest review. This is my first book from Laura Trentham and I enjoyed it. I did drag my feet on reading it, but it surprised me. My only problem is that I feel like the ending was rushed, This story is about Claire and Holt. Claire is living with Ms. Meadows to help her after her fall. Claire is in hiding, (but I’m not going to tell you why), and she meets Holt at the grocery store. I like the dynamic between the characters . Laura Trentham did a good job keeping the characters and story interesting. Even though I feel the ending was rushed, I do recommend to give this story a try.
Highlander is coming to town
This is a beautiful story. Holt is a lonely farmer who has lived in highland all his life. Claire toured Highland with her band and decided to stay. She’s hiding out with lots of secrets. She doesn’t intent to stay but the longer she’s there the more home she feels. She’s finding friendships and love she has never really felt. The question though is can she let go of her obligations to the family.
