A Hope That Doesn't Hurt

"Who are we before we are our stories?"

A Hope That Doesn't Hurt is a deeply resonant debut collection that welcomes every part of the soul, both dark and light, into the messy middle ground between suffering and hope. Calling upon the mythology of gods, witches, and monsters, as well as her own life stories, Rose summons the forces of darkness to demonstrate where we most need to let in the light, and then she lets it in.

At once earnestly sad and unerringly hopeful, this series of poems charts an unflinching course through grief into healing, and the reward for the journey promises to be worth every aching step.

"Perhaps it has a name and, by tasting, I might know it."
