A Fascinating Event Arc
This volume is almost exclusively about a single in-game event, and builds out a fascinating, complex story around working through this event. Most real MMORPG events are actually pretty straightforward and shallow; the story here is about a much richer sort of game event I’d love to see in an actual game. Unfortunately, that would certainly require much more advanced AI than exists in current game NPCs. But it’s a brilliant look at what might be possible in near-future games, even without going to full VR or “deep dive” VR technology.
