In addition to her children's books, Burnett also wrote numerous novels and plays for adults. She died on October 29, 1924, in Plandome, New York, leaving behind a legacy of inspiring stories that continue to captivate readers of all ages.

Synopsis:

"A Little Princess" is a children's novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, first published in 1905. The story follows Sara Crewe, a young girl who is sent to a boarding school in London by her wealthy father, Captain Crewe. Sara is kind and imaginative, and she quickly makes friends with the other girls at the school.

However, when news of Captain Crewe's death and the loss of his fortune reaches the school, Sara's life is turned upside down. The headmistress, Miss Minchin, takes away Sara's nice clothes and forces her to work as a servant, treating her cruelly.

Despite the difficult circumstances, Sara remains optimistic and kind to those around her. She befriends a servant girl named Becky, and the two of them secretly continue Sara's education in the attic. Sara also uses her imagination to cope with the challenges she faces, pretending that she is still a princess.

Eventually, a surprise twist of fate brings Sara's fortunes back, and she is able to help those who were kind to her in her time of need. The story ends with Sara's reunion with her dear friend and the discovery of a happy ending for all involved.
