Chi McLane likes to lie. It's part of her job. She's a fortuneteller and will happily lie about your future for a fee.
Then she encounters a problem. She's just inherited her grandmother's house. That's not so bad, right? Wrong. Because the house comes with a book, and the book comes with a curse.
Suddenly Chi finds herself thrust into the gritty world of a seer. Yeah, because magic exists, and it ain't pretty.
Oh, and there's another problem. One with broad shoulders, a deep Scottish accent, and a killer smile. Turns out he's her magical bodyguard, and he's here to stay.
Chi is pushed into a realm of violent magic, petty lies, and a curse that will haunt her until the day she dies.

Good read, very short!
Good but overpriced
I have really enjoyed this author's writing. I read through her Plain Jane series, and I read the first book in the lying witch series. However, and this is a big however, each book is only about 200 pages +/-10. She charges generally $3.99 per book. This is what I pay for books twice the length. Then, after all the books in the series are written, she offers a bundle deal at a little more than the price per page that I pay for other books. The deals are not actually really deals, since the price is still higher than "normal" price. So, to get the books at a little over the usual rate per page rather than double price, you should wait until the entire series is done and buy the bundle. And understand that you are not getting a special deal, you're just getting close to standard price for online books. Or you can pay through the nose and buy them one at a time. If I didn't like this author's writing, this review would be a little more scathing regarding her cutting books into half books. She should be charging perhaps $1.99 for each of these novellas.
A fast-paced, fun read! Good for those rainy days, when you need something spooky to curl up with.
