A Man Called Pedro

When Pedro Kalbermatter gave his life to God, he gave it completely!

“Wash your clothes!” Pedro’s commanding officer ordered. “Sir, it’s the Sabbath, I cannot work.”

Pushing Pedro to his knees beside the washtub, the commander ordered, “Wash!” The other soldiers watched. Pedro’s heart beat so hard that it made his chest ache. Reverently, he bowed his head and began to pray. “Beat him!” the commander shouted.

Immediately Pedro felt the searing pain of the whip. Again and again it cut into his hands, but Pedro kept praying and the soap and the clothes fell into the tub.

Whether witnessing for his faith in the Argentinean army, or defending the rights of Indians before government leaders, or building schools for the poor--Pedro did it with all his heart.
