Publisher Description
Life had taught Heat many valuable lessons.
Things like have a code to live by. The simpler the better.
Simple rules a man could live by.
Rules like whoever killed a man's partner had to pay for that sin.
Rules like never take the rap for something you didn't do.
And most important of all, never let somebody else do your dirty work for you.
Introducing P.I. James Benoit "Heat" Heatley in A Matter of Vengeance, a tale of Southern Noir.
What readers have to say about A Matter of Vengeance:
All I can say is WOW! A Matter on Vengeance, my second read from author K.C. Sivils, an author I'd wanted to read for some time but never got around to (so many books, so little time). Outstandingly well-written and captivating with well-developed main characters." – Roger Fauble
James Benoit Heatley. The perfect name for the newest Southern Noir anti-hero, aka, 'Heat'. He's an old school private detective. Ex-police. Strengths - hates 'red tape' and bad guys who prey on women. Weaknesses - really hates bad guys who prey on women. I couldn't help but like him. KC Sivils has a knack for creating a cast of characters very capable of quickly climbing into your life and making themselves at home." – Allen Simmons
"Great story development and characters. You have to read all of it to get the answer. Couldn't put it down, highly recommend!" – Kindle Customer
"This was my first book from the author, and I really enjoyed his characters and style of writing. The story is set in Houston, Texas and the main character Heat, a private investigator, is a no nonsense bad _ss looking to find out who murdered his estranged partner, to either bring them to justice, or better yet make them pay. Either way is fine by him. The story is fast paced and easy to read. There are a number of characters in the story that you will connect with, and an equal number that you will want to beat the Hell out of. I highly recommend this book, and hope that the rest of the books in the set read as well." - JRM

A Matter of Vengeance
PI James Heatly known as Heat is an interesting guy and boss for Amy. She picks abusers, he wants to vet them first. He hates seeing the bruisers on her slender body. In the office she is strong, determined to get what she wants.
His partner now unrecognized a act of rage. Called into ID him, yes they were having a patch of disagreements. His cases had a lot of cheating husband who were angry enough to do this. Heat takes care of his own, the captain is telling the two detectives on the case. He is a hothead with his fists or a gun, then they would have another body.
Enjoyable plot that flowed with a sense of humor the Captain, Garcia and Boucher knew Heat and that’s what worried them.
Heat has a soft heart, but takes care of things himself.
