Publisher Description

This is the short story of Myakka, a fifteen year old female’s challenging journey to adulthood in the Mayan culture of A.D. 800. The journey was known as a “vision quest,” a three-day survival trek, under the influence of hallucinogenic drugs, required by the priesthood of Mayan City States to prove a candidate’s worthiness to join Mayan society. Successful completion of the journey led to an apprenticeship in one of the variety of functional support specialties within Mayan society. The story became the setting for the beginning of Book I in the Ancestor Series of Adventure-thrillers.
