Publisher Description
Jacob Bryant (1715-1804) was born in Plymouth, England. He was a respected scholar and mythographer.
Through his book, A New System, or, An Analysis of Ancient Mythology. Bryant wanted to present his beliefs that all the mythology came from the Hebrew Scripture. This book is written in order to link the mythology to the Book of Genesis. In the book he explains how contemporary society has its roots from the ancient civilizations.
The work opened a discussion between world scholars, since there were writers who publicly opposed Bryant’s ideas.
