Publisher Description

MURIEL TOLSON grew up with all of the luxuries life could offer. As the daughter of a duke, she married the second son of an earl and lived in style on his family’s estate. When her husband ships off to fight the Nazis in Africa, Muriel heeds his request to use her intelligence and language skills to help with the war effort. She approaches the British secret services and soon finds herself recruited into an experimental all female cohort dubbed the Virtues, a collection of seven extraordinary women with highly specialized skills.

Assigned the code name of PRUDENCE, her natural French allows her to infiltrate Occupied France where she works as a courier; carrying messages, money, and sometimes people through the secret resistance network aiding the allies to accomplish very dangerous missions behind enemy lines.

When Nazis capture the agent code named TEMPERANCE, the team shucks previously laid plans and fast-forwards operational timelines. Is the team ready for this daring mission, or will the Third Reich thwart their plans before they can even get started?

A PARCEL FOR PRUDENCE is part four of eight serialized novellas entitled the Virtues and Valor series.

Seven valorous women — different nationalities, ethnicities, and social backgrounds — come together as a team called the Virtues.

In 1941 Great Britain a special war department assembles an experimental and exclusively female cohort of combat operatives. Four willing spies, a wireless radio operator, an ingenious code breaker, and a fearless pilot are each hand-picked, recruited, and trained to initiate a daring mission in Occupied France. As plans are laid to engineer the largest prison break of Allied POWs in history, the Nazis capture the Virtues’ radio operator. It will take the cohesive teamwork of the rest of the women to save her life before Berlin breaks her and brings the force of the Third Reich to bear.

Some find love, some find vengeance, and some discover the kind of strength that lives in the human heart when all they can do is rely on each other and their shared belief. Courage, faith, and valor intersect but, in the end, one pays the ultimate price.

Continuing the Virtues and Valor series by Hallee Bridgeman. Eight serialized novellas, each inspired by real people and actual events, reveal the incredible story of amazing heroines facing the ultimate test of bravery.

Plunge right into the middle of a spy network

I can't imagine myself in Prudence's shoes. Muriel Tolson, a wealthy aristocrat, eager to be a part of a WWII spy unit became a courier codenamed Prudence, delivered messages, money and supported the cause in occupied France. Her husband encouraged her to do this before he left for North African. She learned how to drive a car, cook and run long distance in order to fit the part of a French national. Her cover was a music teacher since she was proficient. I know I would not do well with the torture techniques she was put through in Britain, in order to face Nazi interrogation if she were captured.

The friendships, adventure and sheer courage of the women in the Virtues unit is remarkable. Especially since this series is based on real-life women from WWII.

Hallee Bridgeman has done a remarkable job researching and writing this novella series. Each one is fast-paced, full of surprises and plunges the reader right into the middle of a spy network. Each novella interweaves the seven women's storylines and progressively continues the big-picture plot. I like seeing the journey from seven different viewpoints.

I received a complimentary book from The Book Club Network at bookfun.org in exchange for my honest review.

A Parcel for Prudence

A Parcel for Prudence is the fourth novella in the Virtues and Valor series written by the talented spirit filled author, Hallee Bridgeman. Each fictional heroine in these novellas is based on a real life woman during The French Resistance against the Germans during World War II. The character Prudence in this novella is based on real life heroine, Cécile Pearl Witherington. At the end of A Parcel for Prudence, Hallee has written several pages informing the reader of this lady. The intensity of chapter 1 had me sitting on the edge of my seat, and I couldn't wait to finish the story. Prudence is the code name for Muriel Haysworth who is of the aristocratic society in Great Britain with her husband being the son of an Earl. With her husband fighting in Africa, she becomes a member of the Virtues and Valor group of women that have offered their lives to travel to France to secretly "fight" the Germans using their God given talents. Giving up the luxuries she is accustomed to having, Prudence valiantly faces hardships and danger to deliver secret messages among the enemy. Her trust in God gives her the strength to face possible capture or death in her endeavors.
