A Playful Queen

Step back 400 years into the merry lives of Shakespeare and Queen Elizabeth. Tradition says the queen exclaimed it would much amuse her to see Falstaff in love. This story turns that tradition on its head, with Shakespeare inspired by Queen Elizabeth’s False Staff.

 The relationship here between Queen Elizabeth and Shakespeare is pure invention, but what the dickens! The long and the short of it is that the queen was a fine writer and Shakespeare sometimes collaborated on the lesser plays. And thereby hangs this playful tale....
