I have read several of Eileen Dryer's books and I absolutely love her stories. She is an awesome author. This book was no exception. I found it to be an incredibly emotional Read. Very well written and strong characters. Allison wanted children, but her husband did not. Then she accidentally gets pregnant and after Maggie is born, Allison's husband walks out on her leaving her with a Downs syndrome child with a heart defect. I don't know how anybody can read this and not feel the heart wrenching emotions for Allison, Maggie and Joe. Highly recommend this book.

The loveliest of roses, thorns and all
A Rose for Maggie is a very special romance, the beautiful bittersweet tale of second-chance romance after the birth of a special needs child. Heaven bless author Eileen Dreyer for writing this book. She captures so perfectly the grief, the crushing worry, the love and the joys of single-parenting a child with special needs. Like many such women, I had no hope or expectations of sharing that burden with another partner after the first one left. It was so beautiful to live that dream vicariously through Alison's story, and such a comfort to know that someone, somehow, understands why it matters. Five stars for superb characters, believable interactions, and spicy romance - all underpinned by the author's compassionate and wise heart.
