A Roy Named Ray

Michael Arturo's 'play for film' "A Roy Named Ray" is a dark comedy about a young man's life long search for a brother who may or may not exist. Ray Kosmo, employed as a grief and trauma counselor at his township's Crisis Center, puts his reputation on the line by inviting an ex-con with the same last name into his home. Orphaned at birth, Ray’s desperate need to create a family history and define his own identity becomes his ultimate undoing as he descends further and further down a rabbit hole to find a truth he can't accept. Reminiscent of the works of the Coen Brothers, American playwright Sam Shepard, Theater of the Absurd firebrand Eugene Ionesco and the parables of Russian novelist Nikolai Gogol. "A Roy Named Ray" is a modern fable and pataphysical fantasy of misplaced obsessions exposing the human foibles associated with our need to connect with the past.
