Funny beach read with substance
There are a ton of funny “chic lit” romances out there, especially those based on the “girl falls in love with royalty, but has no idea he’s royal” trope. I read this literally on a beach on vacation and just thought it’d be a fun, frothy beach read. I was pleasantly surprised to find it more than that. The heroine was smart and issue-oriented (without the book being preachy). The author managed to get her to have a romance without sacrificing who she is. In fact, she was able to find out more about herself through her relationship.
Very satisfying beach read that’s definitely a cut above the others in the genre.
Weird romance story
The premise of this story was cute. There are 3 pages in the middle of the book about every political and social issue that have nothing to do with the story. It is just sort of stuck in there. It will be outdated in a few years because of it. The joke about STDs was strange. Was it meant as a joke since one of the female characters gets drunk and sleeps with a guy she just met. Great way to pass STDs on and not a great picture of a girl in control of her life.
Interesting Concept, but a bit cheesy for my tastes
Loved the idea of the story and the build to what the main conflicts would be, but certain moments kind of fell flat and there wasn’t the right build of emotion for some of the lines spoken. Still enjoyed reading and finishing though
