Spenser's job is to keep Candy healthy until she breaks the biggest story of her career. But her star witness has just bowed out with three bullets in his chest, two tough guys have doubled up to test Spenser's skill with his fists, and Candy is about to use her own sweet body as live bait in a deadly romantic game--a game that may cost Spenser his life.

A savage place
Good read, if a bit rambling, especially at the ending, which was pretty unsatisfactory. Left much up in the air, without meaningful closure.
The can’t help themselves sometimes
Spenser ends up in Hollywood, hired as a bodyguard for a female TV reporter who is working on a story about payoffs in the movie industry. Interviews lead to people dying but Spenser doesn’t have enough information for the police to make a case. Spenser ends up being fired by the News Station but sticks around to help the reporter build her story and case. All does not end well, for the reporter, Spenser and several of the suspects.
