A Scoundrel of Her Own
Lady Ophelia Darby exists in two worlds. In one, she is the impudent, willful daughter of a powerful marquess and darling of the ton. In the other, she moves through the underworld’s shadows as songstress Lady Starlight, protected only by the notoriously wealthy scoundrel Devlin Byrne. But when she stumbles upon her beloved father’s darkest secrets, the line between her two worlds quickly blurs. Now she needs the help of the one man a lady should never trust.
Devlin Byrne stands on the edge of London society, knowing he will never be accepted. No one else knows that his obscene wealth and ruthlessness aren’t without purpose. Or that his purpose has golden-brown eyes that shimmer with mischief, the palest of skin, and a lush mouth that beckons to be kissed, and deeply. But having Ophelia is only the beginning of Devlin’s plans.
It’s undeniable that Devlin Byrne is a dangerous temptation—but just as Ophelia begins to trust him, maybe even fall for him, she discovers she’s not the only one with secrets. And his would lead her down more than just the path of scandal…
Each book in the Sinful Wallflowers series is STANDALONE:
* My Darling Duke
* Her Wicked Marquess
* A Scoundrel of Her Own
Reid's sensual third Sinful Wallflowers romance (after Her Wicked Marquess) explores love across class lines in Regency England. Twelve-year-old Niall Byrne risks his life to rescue eight-year-old Ophelia Darby from a river and cares for her in a nearby cottage until help arrives, sparking a friendship that ends as soon as it begins when Ophelia is returned to her aristocratic family, who openly mock Niall, the son of a poor carpenter. Shamed but smitten by Ophelia, Niall vows to make himself worthy of her and leaves home for London, where he endures poverty and imprisonment before achieving immense wealth through the smart investment of boxing winnings. Fifteen years later, Niall has reinvented himself as Devlin Byrne and given up on his childhood crush until they're thrown back together when Lady Ophelia enters the seedier part of London looking for Sally Martin, the biological mother she never met. As Devlin assists her search, the pair become reacquainted, and their sweet friendship blossoms into a scintillating romance. Reid injects their reunion with plenty of allure while keeping the plot zipping along. Historical romance fans will be drawn to the relationship between two characters willing to break societal convention for a chance at love. Agent: Jill Marsal, Marsal Lyon Literary.
A scoundrel indeed
This was a book that contained so much sorry, depth, multifaceted characters, love, humor, turmoil and was so different from anything I’ve read.
So very good
Enjoyed the struggles chakra faced and honesty of it. I’ll be reading this book again! V. L. L. Book lover
