A Set of Six

Joseph Conrad (3 Dec 1857 – 3 Aug 1924) was an English writer of Polish origin and though he wrote his works in English he always considered himself a Pole. His stories often have nautical setting which is a typical feature of adventure stories. A symbolic meaning can be found in this idea: the author traces the fates of people in the indifferent and strange world.

A Set of Six is collection of short stories by Joseph Conrad. Each of them has its own heroes, set in different time and place, raises different questions. The only things, which they have in common, are the Spirit of the Epoch, that they represent, and the truth, for every story is based on real events. From war to peace, from land to sea – everything has found its reflection in this set of six.
