"The elements of this winning romance are definitely in sync."—Publishers Weekly, STARRED REVIEW
He's always looked to the stars
Now she's the brightest light in his universe.
Brilliant astrophysicist Dr. Owen Shaughnessy feels more connected to the cosmos than to people. He's great with calculations, but when he leads a team of scientists to study a famous meteor shower, he doesn't factor in his free-spirited artist assistant Brooke Matthews.
Polar opposites in personality, the friction between Owen and Brooke threatens to derail the project. But the beauty and mystery of the night sky draw them together—and she's going to surprise him in ways the stars never could.

"A sweet romance that takes its time to court the reader: classic, thoughtful, and sometimes as lyrical as the stars."—Kirkus Reviews
In this exceptional fifth Shaughnessy Brothers contemporary (after This Is Our Song), when aspiring artist Brooke Matthews and astrophysicist Owen Shaughnessy connect, their desire burns brighter than the North Star and their union paints the perfect picture of "opposites attract." Brilliant, shy Owen has always felt socially awkward. Brooke, who used to taunt her brainiac brother, has since turned over a new leaf. When she signs up to be Owen's assistant, they are immediately drawn to each other. Owen sees the passion, sweetness, and humility in Brooke, and she's captured by his honesty, chivalry, and charm. But he's daunted by her looks, and she's intimidated by his intellect. With the encouragement of Owen's fun-loving and carefree family members and Brooke's uncle Howard (who's Owen's mentor), they both overcome their anxieties. The openness between the lovers is refreshing, and their interactions are a balanced blend of sweet and spice. The planets may not have aligned, but the elements of this winning romance are definitely in sync.
Wow! Powerful, tender - an amazing story.
Owen is my new favorite Shaughnessy brother. I love that he is shy, vulnerable and uncertain with himself and fully aware of his shortcomings. Brooke, the former beauty queen and niece of Owen's mentor and friend, to his surprise becomes his girlfriend. While building their relationship Owen and After some guidance and words of wisdom from family members, Owen and Brooke realize what they need to do to move forward and be together. Their journeys go deep and touch your soul. Every time that I think of Superman/Clark Kent, I will also think of Owen - love him!
An absolute must read! (You would get a better understanding of the Shaughnessy family if you read the books that precend this but, you will still get an intense experience with this book as a standalone.)
Full of Romance and Family. Instant re-read for me!
I love the Shaughnessy series and this is one of the best of that. Ms. Chase has written a book that both stands alone and furthers the series. If you haven't read any in the series, you can start here ... but WARNING! You'll want to then read all of them!
The main characters, Owen and Brooke, both have challenges to overcome. Owen is fighting the self imposed limitations he's put on himself and Brooke is wrestling with her future. The story weaves in scenes with favorite characters from other books in the series, Owen's siblings, and introduces the reader to the world of astrophysics.
This book is a romance about family. This book was an emotional trip that was romantic, sweet, real, and fun.
I own this book and you should too! Download now .... you'll be happy you did
The Shaughnessy I've been waiting for!
Nerdy, brilliant, sexy and frankly, clueless guys do it for me! I love the inevitable absentmindedness, the quizzical looks (behind wire-rimmed or black "Buddy Holly" glasses, of course) when a social cue is misunderstood. I embrace the geek speak, whether about movies, tv shows, books or their chosen field of study/work...even when I totally have no idea what they are talking about.
But mostly, I love their huge hearts and their little boy feelings inside their (usually, and luckily) sexy body. And that's what I got...in spades...with Owen Shaughnessy, the brother I have been waiting for! From page one, my heart was fully engaged by this sweet, broken-hearted little boy, who's infatuation with the stars went from a love he shared with his mom, to a career that both isolated him from his peers but helped him find is true love.
Brooke may seem like an unlikely match for this introverted astrophysicist, with her "gypsy" like appearance and artistic soul. But not even Owen's twin, Riley, with their "twin telepathy", can understand the passion simmering under his surface. Like no one has since his mom, Brooke speaks to Owen's heart.
I cried my way through this book. Sometimes just a tear from one eye, but many times my breath would catch on a sob and the waterworks would flow more freely. While 99% of the romances I read invoke smiles and laughter, sighs and maybe a tear or two, very few leave a lasting, life-altering impression. But that other 1%, the ones that stay with you, even after reading 10, 15, 20 more books after it...this is what A Sky Full of Stars is for me. It is that rare gem that I want to...and will...read again, and again and again. Owen is the hero I'll remember and recommend to others. He's the name I won't forget, the one that will make me smile. And he's the one I'll think of every time I see a shooting star, a meteor shower, or a cute guy in glasses. Owen Shaughnessy is imprinted on my heart. Thank you, Samantha Chase!
