A Small Town in Germany
This is not Le Carre's best book, but it is very well written and it evokes the era of divided Germany confronting its new place in the world of the 60's. I enjoyed the story and would recommend it to those readers who enjoy a different kind of suspense novel. This is not the hunt for a traitor, but the hunt for a man who is confronting the demons of his past. A mystery that ends with a tragedy, rather than a betrayal. This is a different kind of hero who will not give up his principles even with the result ending in his defeat.
