This is a story of young Tom Edwards, an adventurer, who was first aroused to dreams of glory and then to protests of patriotism, and in whom, by its very failure, it awakened passionate love of the Union. The book pictures yearnings and awakening of this young boy’s vigorous life who fought for freedom and fought with his conscience.
