Slow start but worth it
The beginning of the story was hard to read , boring and seemed as if it was going nowhere. About 20 pages in I had to google reviews and a lot of people felt the same way I did. Stuck on the F train I decided to give it a second chance . At the end I appreciated her details of how New York was in the 1900’s and grew to love the characters.
Don’t give up and keep reading to the end !

Wow. This book, although something I admittedly did not pick out myself, was a great read and I'm already reading it for a third time. I was assigned this book the winter break of my freshmen year and although I loathed my teacher assigning me reading assignments, this book was worth all that time spent.
Such a good book to read w minors
I read this book to minors with diddy and they were scared at first because diddy was there obviously but the book really had them open up and see that they can all kind of see themselves or some one they know in the book also they all learned how diffrent the times were back then and they became more aware of how lucky they are and also what their ant-sisters had to do to get them here xx this was amazing i def recommend have a great day yall im also from Alabama and my papa is from New Jersey xx love you all xx #monicaout #bye #xoxo
