Technical Reference with a Difference
With yet another members dealing with Type 1 Diabetes, I'm committing myself to learning more so that I can be of support. I came across this book while searching for a reference that would be informative but not too try. I was put off at first by its high price, but intrigued by the fact that it was “Made for iBooks".
This book has surprised me. It's a rare combination of valuable reference (which was all that I was looking for to start) and emotional comfort. The author clearly has made helping those with diabetes a life's work, and believes the formula is to be both highly informed and spiritual.
I wasn't expecting to appreciate the value of the video interviews in this book, but the authenticity of the author and almost all of the people interviewed have drawn me in. I'll confess to cynicism when hearing the author say "I love my life" when speaking about his personal experience with diabetes, but that changed as I read on.
This book is a cause for optimism. While I see the huge amount of work ahead for the new diabetic and their families, the stories of success are credible and inspiring. As both a technical reference and a source of hope, I'm grateful to have it on my iPad.
Great interactive content
I loved the book and how interactive it is. I work with families and children with diabetes and I am excited to recommend this book with many others. I have had the pleasure of listening to Joe speak about diabetes and how to deal with all of the many moving parts in a family dynamic. Parents need to manage hypos, meal planning, treating siblings as equals and helping them all who care for a person with diabetes understand the disease, etc.
