Publisher Description
I often played golf alone on summer evenings when I was a kid. I still prefer to play that way. I'll go in along with anybody any other time of day but the evenings are still, and quiet, and mine. It doesn't seem golf would be the most exciting sports attraction to the average American teenage boy. Baseball, football, basketball--even soccer--should grab a kid with the prospect of more action, speed and the possibility of more heroics in front of the average American teenage girl. But there was something about this game on the mountain in the rarified air: the close clipped fairways, the whitewashed clubhouse, the view down into the town, the solitary nature of the game that matched a shy lonely boy.
