Dark and provocative look at religious horror
This collection is a richly layered exploration of losing - or discarding - one’s faith, and the dark and sometimes bloody consequences of that act.
Each author delves into the subject in their own unique way, and the collection takes the reader on a journey from decrepit churches to mystical forests, to an inner city retirement home with a dark and deadly secret.
The book is well curated and beautifully designed, with a fascinating ‘story within the story’ told with gorgeously drawn plates between each of the longer tales that follows a scholar searching for an ancient, cursed manuscript.
Overall an excellent book, full of horror and nuance - impressive for the first book from a new publisher. Signus Magnolia is a group to watch.
