Publisher Description

Follow Abby and Jonah as they embark on a thrilling journey through Neverland--meeting pirates, mermaids, the Lost Boys, Tinkerbell, and Peter Pan himself-- in this third Special Edition of the dazzling New York Times best-selling Whatever After series.
Abby and Jonah are at home with Jonah's friends and their fairy friend, Maryrose, when they receive a visit from another fairy--a famous one. It's Tinkerbell! She's come to their window with none other than Peter Pan. It's exciting at first--but when Peter Pan announces that he needs new Lost Boys, he whisks away Jonah and Jonah's friends. It's up to Abby (and Maryrose) to follow them all into Neverland! She soon finds herself inside the beloved book Peter Pan.

Even if Abby can convince Peter Pan to give her back Jonah and his friends, there's still the evil Captain Hook and his band of pirates to contend with. And can Abby trust anyone--even Tinkerbell? She'll have to rely on her courage--and a little bit of magic fairy dust--to make it back home from Neverland before all is lost!

Full of fun extras like full-page illustrations, this Special Edition is a whirlwind adventure like no other!

why?

i LOVE this book series! i started reading it when i was 8 years old because i had to read a fantasy book for my third grade reading class. my teacher suggested this series, and i was very skeptical, but read it. i was so surprised with how much i love the book. i still read the books to this day, 7 years later out of nostalgia of a time gone by, but something in this book made me decide to write this review. first off, i want to say that people should do what they want (mostly). if they want to be gay, they okay, that’s what they want to do. but something that’s not ok is adding LGBTQ elements into a book made for 8 year olds. i didn’t discover that there were gay people in this world until i was 10 yrs old, and to this day i have only interacted with a handful of gay people, all but one of them being from my high school. i didn’t need to know what LQBTQ was when i was 10 years old. i was shocked and confused by the fact that people could think that they like their same sex, or think that they’re the opposite sex, so i don’t think they needed to add this into a book for 8 year olds. as a kid, i never expected my parents to understand anything. anytime my friends told me something i didn’t understand or i read or watched something i was confused about, i knew that i should have told my parents about it, but i was the type of child who never told my parents anything because i thought i would get in trouble even though i did nothing. if i read this book when i was 8 or even 10 i would’ve retreated into my mind for a few days which would’ve made my relationship with my parents tough. i realize that not everyone is like this, but still no one really needs to learn what LGBTQ is until at least 6th or 7th grade. overall, this book was great, just that one little part and the little parts throughout the book that were suggesting that never land was a patriarchy made me take two stars away. if you’re a parent, i would suggest letting your child read all but this book.

Very disappointed

I loved this series so much up until this book. I read every single book at least three times each, and was ecstatic for this one to come out. When it finally did come out, there was something in the book that is not appropriate for 8 year olds! I, personally, am not eight, but this series is geared toward that age. I am very disappointed that the author put gay things in this book. Why?! There was no reason to ruin this series. I recommend you do read the previous books in this series, but not this book or the books that come after this one that haven’t been released yet, because I do love this was a great series up until this.😑
