Above The Clouds

What if the hardest parts of life could become the very experiences that help you see the world differently?

In Above the Clouds, Sasha Renata brings together more than thirty years of poetry, short stories, memories, humour, loss, discovery, and deeply personal reflection in a collection that is as varied and unpredictable as life itself.

Moving through childhood memories, love and loyalty, grief, identity, transformation, friendship, war and remembrance, travel, nostalgia, and the small details of everyday life, these pages invite you to laugh, reflect, remember, and sometimes simply pause.

Meet a young traveller discovering Papua New Guinea for the first time. Follow a detective caught in a mysterious and unsettling world where nothing may be what it seems. Share the heartbreaking story of Dakota, a beloved dog whose loyalty provided comfort through some of life's darkest moments. Revisit childhood memories, Australian places, changing technology, sporting frustrations, beach life, old friendships, and the experiences that shape who we become.

Some pieces are light hearted. Others are deeply emotional. Some ask difficult questions about loss, belonging, sacrifice, and identity. Together they create a portrait of a life lived through many different seasons.

At the heart of Above the Clouds is a simple invitation: look beyond the burdens that can surround you and search for the perspective that allows you to rise above them.

Written with honesty, warmth, humour, and vulnerability, this is a collection for readers who enjoy poetry with meaning, personal stories with heart, and reflections that stay with you long after the page is turned.

Come along on the journey.

Look back.

Look within.

And discover what it means to live your truth and find your own way above the clouds.
