Children watch us closely, we are not always aware we are sending silent messages to our loved ones and will never know which ones will stick. In Abuelo’s Sweet Music, grandson Carlitos and grandfather Manuel are drawn together by music. Carlitos is determined to play the violin but it is not the easy to accomplish his desires. Abuelo encourages Carlito’s if he really wants to play music, he must take the responsibility to get involved in the process. It takes, work, earning money, praying to the Saint Cecilia, parents and practice to make it happen. Music becomes a special experience for him, until sadness enters Carlitos life and he wants to give up. His friendship with his best friend Max helps him to see how coming back to music will help heal his pain and Carlitos finds ways to honor Abuelo.
