Introduction Good health is essential for all children and young people. It enables them to enjoy life, gain the most from their education and improves life chances. Although statutory requirements are in place to promote the health and well-being of all looked after children and young people, the task of achieving improvements and meeting identified needs requires a holistic approach. It is not the concern of the NHS alone. Factors such as secure attachment, a sense of belonging, social networks and engagement in positive leisure activities also play a significant role.
